Moira & Terry Corcoran Local History Programme Quiz
Transition year students from the local second level schools participate in a local history programme which sees them visit the Museum and Martello Tower, then go on a walking tour of Drogheda, with teams of ten members from each school taking part in a quiz for the Moira & Terry Corcoran Trophy.
We also provide Historical Walking Tours of Drogheda which again may be tailored to the needs of schools be they primary or secondary, an example of a tour would be to visit the Cromwell site and see at first hand how Cromwell entered Drogheda.
At Drogheda Museum Millmount we can also arrange for students to visit The Battle of the Boyne site at Oldbridge and we also can provide guides to take groups to the various Monastic sites of the area.
The Old Drogheda Society also run an annual John Boyle O'Reilly School usually in September each year with a different historic theme each year.
Part of our collection at Millmount Museum is the recently formed Geological Room. This carefully selected collection offers more than three hundred specimens all labelled. We also offer an audio visual presentation for the students.
At the Millmount complex we have adequate space for lunch breaks for groups bringing packed lunches.
Tours are available Monday to Friday and special schools group rates are available.
